1941 Daily News Goody Twirler Champion Patch

Here’s an absolutely incredible patch from 1941. The Daily News in conjunction with Goody, put this patch together for contests. Very little documentation or knowledge exists about the marketing and promotion done by the Goody Company but this is a fine demonstration of the paring between a daily newspaper and a yo-yo manufacturer that was common in the 30′s, 40′s and 50′s.

The patch features flocked lettering and detail instead of embroidery, which is totally unique in the world of yo-yo patches.

Graciously donated to the museum by Paul and Marilyn Sahadi. We truly appreciate this rare piece.

This patch is on display at the National Yo-Yo Museum.

Hi all, I have Just found out one of my relatives was a Canadian Cheerio yo yo Demonstrator Pete Evans. Peter Evans b1921-d1999 married Joan Lowther. I am writing in the hope that someone could tell me more about this fascinating man and his amazing skills. I believe he came to visit family in Ulverston UK. Some of the older people can remember the amazing yo yo cheerio man. I have seen a picture of him wearing a pro 99 patch, any info would be greatly appreciated.
